Gemstone Details:

Quartz can come in a wide variety of colors and forms.  Many forms include Amethyst (purple), Citrine (yellow to orange), Smoky Quartz (brown), Rose Quartz (pink), Prasiolite (green), Aventurine (mica rich), and Agate (cryptocrystalline) are just some.  Quartz is composed of two elements Silicon and Oxygen (SiO2).  In it's pure form, it is colorless and is commonly known as "Rock Crystal."  Some of the best known varieties is located in Herkimer, in the upper state of New York; where the "Herkimer Diamonds" are found.  With the mineral hardness of a 7, it is durable enough for all types of jewelry.
