Gemstone Details:

Jasper is the opaque variety of the Chalcedony family.  It will literally come in hundreds of colors and patterns.  Anywhere Quartz and Agate are formed, you will also find Jasper as well.  The most prized variety of Jasper is the kind that shows images of that of what looks like natural landscapes; this variety is known as "Picture" Jasper, or "Landscape" Jasper. With a mineral hardness of a 6 1/2 to a 7, it is durable for all types of jewelry.  Colors are do to impurities from iron to hematite. Colors vary from earth-tones to bright milky white.  The red variety that usually has a white vein of Quartz is known as "Indian Red" Jasper.  This mineral is highly collected by enthusiasts, beginners, or even veteran rock hounds a like.
