Gemstone Details:

This beautiful burnt red variety of garnets represents the Month of January.  The most common variety of garnets, in fact so common, tiny crystals that are not suitable for jewelry are actually used industrial and commercially used as an abrasive. Most common use is that of sand paper.  Almandine Garnet has a mineral hardness of a 7 1/2, making it suitable for all types of jewelry.  In fact in ancient times it was used to ward off evil and to protect its wearer from dark forces. These garnets are colored by traces of iron within the crystal structure. Many think that garnets only comes in shades of red, but newly discovered Masasi Garnet proves that Garnets in general can come in every color of the rainbow, including color changing.
