Gemstone Details:

Chalcedony is the variety of the mineral variety of Quartz. This cryptocrystalline form of Quartz can come in array of colors which doesn't exhibit any patterns.  The purest form is colorless with a glow from when light hits it.  Although this stone isn't rare, but it can be found in every continent except Antarctica.  It forms in lava rocks such as basalts.  It takes an excellent polish, and is used in designer jewelry today.  It is slightly softer than Quartz (Rock Crystal), with a mineral hardness of a 6 1/2.  Chalcedony is perfect for all types of jewelry, and there is no special care.
