Gemstone Details:

This brilliantly lemon-yellow variety of Quartz is popular among the public for its lemon yellow tones.  Lemon Quartz gets its trademark yellow from artificial gamma-ray irradiation treatment followed by a heat treatment.  A semi-precious stone that shouldn't be confused with the orange variety Citrine.  Citrine has a more heavier orange tone.  Unlike Lemon Quartz, Citrine gets its color by either heat treatment of low-colored Amethyst, and natural Citrine gets its color due to iron oxide within the crystal lattice.  Lemon Quartz is a very popular gemstone in the market, making it relatively affordable.  With a mineral hardness of a 7, it is ideal for all types of jewelry.
