Gemstone Details:

Prehnite is a mineral that was named after the discoverer: Hendrik von Prehn (who was a military officer).  This mineral belongs to the phosphosilicates group. Typically an oily green in color, but it also comes in yellow hues, to grays, tan, and white.  Often in spherical forms within volcanic rocks more specifically basalt.  This mineral is in associate with zeolites, calcite, and in veins within granite.  The mineral hardness of this stone is about a 6-61/2, with a tendency to be brittle, it is not usually recommended in impact jewelry such as rings or bracelets, but more suited for pendants, broaches, and earrings.
